The BPSSC Bihar Police Special Branch (Advt. No. 09/2026) offers 150 Sub-Inspector (SI) posts. The syllabus follows the standard Bihar Police Sub-Inspector structure divided into Prelims and Mains, consisting of General Knowledge, General Studies, and Mental Ability.

1. Preliminary Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Prelims is an objective, qualifying exam. You must secure a minimum of 30% marks to proceed to Mains, but final selection is based on Mains merit.

• Total Questions: 100 Objective Type Questions (OMR-based)

• Total Marks: 200 Marks (2 marks per correct answer)

• Exam Duration: 2 Hours

• Negative Marking: 0.2 marks deducted for every wrong answer

Prelims Syllabus Details:

• General Knowledge & Current Affairs: National and international current events, sports, soil, rivers, mountains, freedom movement, neighboring countries, culture, arts, capitals, and currencies.

• Bihar Special GK: Geographical, political, and historical condition of Bihar.

2. Mains Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Mains exam is comprised of two compulsory papers.

Paper 1: General Hindi

• Total Questions: 100 Objective Type

• Total Marks: 200 Marks

• Duration: 2 Hours

• Syllabus: Reading comprehension (अपठित गद्यांश), fill in the blanks, error detection, synonyms/antonyms, and basic Hindi grammar. (Note: Qualifying in nature; marks are not counted for the final merit list).

Paper 2: General Studies & Mental Ability

• Total Questions: 100 Objective Type

• Total Marks: 200 Marks

• Duration: 2 Hours

• Negative Marking: 0.2 marks per incorrect answer

Paper 2 Syllabus Details:

• General Studies: Civics (Indian Constitution, Polity, Panchayati Raj), Indian History (Culture, Freedom Movement), Indian Geography (Environment, Agriculture, Natural Resources), and General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology up to the 12th standard).

• Mathematics: Questions from Simplification, Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportion, and Data Interpretation (Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart).

• Mental Ability / Reasoning: Analogies, visual memory, relationship concepts, problem-solving, number series, and arithmetical reasoning.

3. Register yourself by providing basic details like Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, and create a password.

4. Log in with your credentials and fill the online application form with personal, educational, and other required details.

5. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, and necessary documents in the prescribed format.

6. Pay the application fee (if applicable) through online mode (Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI etc.).

7. Review all entered details carefully and submit the application form.

8. Download and print the confirmation page / application form for future reference.

• Qualification Certificates (10th/ SSC/ Matriculation, Graduation , Post Graduation- Optional).

• Address (According to Aadhar/ Voter ID/ Driving License/ Passport/ Ration Card/ Birth Certificate ).

• Scan Recent Passport Size Photo in JPEG/ PNG Format.

• Scan Signature in Hindi & English.. Both Signature Will be on White Paper with Black Ink in JPEG/ PNG Format.
